 Day 01Arrive Cochin International Airport . Transfer to Hotel Spice Village (05 hours drive). Overnight stay at Spice Village. Day 02 Morning Boat safari at Lake Periyar. Periyar is one of the best in the country for watching and photographing wildlife. Visit to the Spice Plantation. Overnight stay at Spice Village. Day 03 After breakfast transfer to Kumarakom (04 hours). Check-in at Hotel Coconut Lagoon. Relax with the Ayurvedic message Sunset cruise in the evening. Overnight stay at the Coconut Lagoon.  Day 04 Visit to the bird sanctuary in the morning . After breakfast visit to the Farm House. Overnight at Hotel Coconut Lagoon. Day 05 Morning transfer to Puthenangadi Jetty, Kottayam for Spice coast cruises Spice Coast cruises feature single and two-bedroom houseboats, complete with kitchens, bathrooms and your own personal cooks-cum-attendants-cum-boatmen. This house boat is known as 'Kettuvallom', the traditional rice barge, with its sturdy build and stately carriage. The boat hulls are made from seasoned 'Anjili' (Jackfruit) logs, that have a natural gentle curvature. Keels are flat, because the rivers here can get mighty shallow at times, and also to allow the boat to be easily punted. (They come with a quiet outboard motor too, so the boatman can get some rest). Your boat moves towards the mouth of the Kavanar river at a scorching 6 miles an hour. Hmmm. It would be a fight to keep your eyelids from closing, except that a refreshingly soft breeze angles in westerly, off the Vembanad lake. It carries the cries of distant darter birds, surprisingly loud over the waters. Overnight stay at Spice coast cruise.  Day 06Morning transfer to the Marari Beach (45 minutes). Rest of the day leisure on the beach. Overnight stay at Marari Beach. Day 07 Full day at leisure or enjoy Ayurveda Therapy. Overnight at Marari Beach. Day 08 After breakfast transfer to Cochin (1 hour 15 mins drive ). Sightseeing of Cochin city visit the Jewish Synagogue , built in 1568 AD and decorated with copper plates bearing the Hebrew script and hand painted chinese tiles. Also visit the Mattan-Cherry Palace also called the Dutch Palace built by the Portugese and presented to the King of Cochin in 1555 AD. The Chinese fishing nets at the entrance of the harbour, along the backwaters are a fascinating sight. These nets that line the sea front exhibit a mechanical method of catching traders to the coast of Malabar. Overnight at Casino Hotel. Day 9 After breakfast transfer to the international airport to fly back home\onward destination. |
